Replacing S4 Fuel Pump Relay

1. Turn off the ignition and shift the transmission into park (tiptronic automatic transmission) or first gear (manual transmission). Activate the parking brake and turn on the dome light.
2. Open the driver's door and look up underneath the dashboard, near the pedal area. Remove the plastic trim panel covering the area by popping it loose.
3. Locate the relay center near the steering column. It is a small black plastic box on the right side of the steering column.
4. Remove the cover from the relay box by depressing its locking tabs and pulling it straight off of the box. Read the diagram on the top of the box cover. It shows the exact location of the relay within the box. Locate and remove the relay by pulling it out of its electrical socket.
5. Install a new fuel pump relay into the electrical socket and replace the relay box cover. Replace the plastic under-dash trim panel. Start the engine and verify that it operates properly.
