How to Change a BMW Inner Wheel Liner

1. Loosen, but do not remove, the lug nuts on the wheels of the BMW by turning them 45 degrees counterclockwise with a tire wrench.
2. Place the jack under the front jack point on the BMW (located behind the radiator) and jack up the car.
3. Place jack stands under the front pinch welds (located under the front driver and passenger side doors) and lower the vehicle onto the jack stands.
4. Continue to remove the lug nuts with a tire wrench and pull the wheel off the wheel hub.
5. Remove the plastic rivets of the wheel liner with a flat tip screwdriver. The rivets are located around the edge of the wheel liner inside the wheel well. Wedge the screwdriver under the head of the rivets and pry them up.
6. Pull the inner liner off and replace it with a new liner.
7. Align the mounting holes of the new liner with the holes on the body. Push the rivets in place to secure the liner.
8. Mount the wheel on the wheel hub and tighten the lug nuts.
9. Set the dial on a torque wrench to 100 foot-pounds and tighten the lug nuts clockwise to 100 foot-pounds. When the wrench clicks, the desired torque has been reached.
