How to Change the Spare Tire Lugs on a Mercedes Benz

1. Open the trunk and locate the tool bag in the spare tire compartment. The correct lug nuts should be in the tool bag. These nuts may be different from the ones you removed with the flat tire. Remove the lug nuts from the tool bag and use them to install the spare tire in place of the flat one.
2. Drive to the nearest tire shop and have the flat tire repaired or replaced, depending on the damage that caused the flat. Small punctures to the tread area of the tire may be plugged or patched, but you should never repair sidewall damage and continue to use the tire.
3. Purchase a new cast aluminum rim and tire for use as a spare on your vehicle. The original spare tire that came with your Mercedes is made of stamped steel but the rims for the original tires that came on the vehicle are cast aluminum; hence, the need for special lug nuts on the spare tire.
