How to Upgrade a BMW GPS Navigation

1. Determine whether your BMW requires a CD or DVD to upgrade the maps system. Models before 2002 use a CD; those after 2002 use a DVD.
2. Call a BMW dealer and order the latest DVD/CD for your system.
3. Press the 'Open' button on the BMW's in-dash entertainment unit once the DVD/CD has arrived. The entertainment unit houses the navigation system. When it opens, it will eject the current navigation CD/DVD. Remove it.
4. Push in the new CD/DVD. The navigation system has now been upgraded.
