How to Troubleshoot the Instrument Panel on a Mercedes 123

Instrument Panel Fuse Replacement
1. Turn the Mercedes 123's engine off and open the left-hand side door. Locate the fuse box to the far left of the steering wheel, on the side of the dashboard.
2. Remove the cover from the fuse box with a screwdriver. Pull the cover rearward.
3. Remove the instrument panel fuse. The location of the fuse depends on the type of vehicle you have. A fuse chart is included with your 123 and is located within the fuse box. Once you have removed the fuse, install a replacement fuse. Again, the fuse will depend on the type of vehicle you own.
4. Reattach the cover to the fuse box and close the driver's side door. If your instrument is now fully functional, the problem was a blown or faulty fuse. If not, you will have to replace the instrument panel.
Instrument Panel Replacement
5. Turn off the 123's engine.
6. Lower the steering wheel.
7. Slide the remover into the lower corner of the instrument panel and yank the panel out. Repeat the process with the other bottom corner.
8. Reach behind the 123's instrument panel and unplug its two electrical wire harnesses. Pull the instrument panel out and place a new instrument panel into the 123. Reconnect its electrical wire connectors before securing the instrument panel into place.
