How to Fix a Cold Start Rough Running Audi TT

1. Connect the battery terminals of your Audi TT to a car that is running and has a good battery. The red ends of jumper cables will connect to the positive terminals of each battery while the other connectors of the jumper cables should get attached to the negative terminals on each battery.
2. Inspect the coil packs that are a part of your TT's ignition system. The coil packs provide spark to each spark plug above each engine cylinder. You can determine if the coil packs are the cause of the issues by opening your hood and removing the plastic engine cover. While the engine is running, pull up each ignition coil using your hands. The coil packs have a square top and sit directly above each cylinder; check to see if they are sparking. If the coil packs are not providing a spark, they will need to be replaced.
3. Examine the condition of the spark plugs underneath the ignition coils. While the engine is turned off, pull up and remove each ignition coil. Using a spark plug removal tool, remove the spark plugs that sit directly below each ignition coil. Inspect each spark plug for a black, grey, soot-like material. If any of the spark plugs are coated in this material, then they may need to be replaced.
4. Test the fuel injectors ability to distribute fuel by bringing your car to a repair shop with fuel injector test equipment. Repair specialists can remove the fuel injectors and test their ability to evenly spray fuel into each combustion chamber. In some cases, the injectors can become dirty and clogged. In some cases, the injectors can be cleaned, then reinstalled, or they may need to be replaced entirely depending on the severity of the clogging.
