How to Change Audi Key Batteries

1. Check your Audi owner's manual to find out the exact type of battery your Audi key is powered by. Most Audi keys are powered by a 1.5-volt PX625A alkaline battery. However, check with your Audi owner's manual to ensure you are using the correct battery replacement. Replacement batteries for your Audi key can be purchased directly from an Audi dealer or from various electronics retailers.
2. Flip your Audi key into the open position by depressing the locking button on the top of the key fob. On the side of your Audi key fob is an indent where the two halves of the fob clip together. Use a thin flathead screwdriver or other thin prying device to separate the key fob casing halves. Be extremely careful when prying the key fob apart, as it is made of plastic and prone to breaking if you try to force it apart.
3. Locate the plastic battery cover, located on the opposite side of the key fob as the key locking button. Remove the clip-in battery cover by hand. Underneath, you will see the Audi key battery. Remove the dead battery by hand, and place a new battery in its place. Ensure that you install the battery in the right direction by checking for the positive (+) and negative (-) indicators on the battery face and matching them to the Audi key battery slot, which also features positive and negative terminal indicators.
4. Replace the battery cover, and reconnect the two halves of the plastic key fob by clipping them together. Gently squeeze the key fob together to ensure the fob casing is securely assembled. Check that your Audi key is in working order by testing any of its electronic functions, such as the door unlocking button.
