How do I Program a 1998 Audi A4 Switchblade Key?

1. Insert the spare key you do not wish to program into the ignition. Rotate the key one notch to the right, placing it in the accessory position. In this position, electronic functions including the car stereo, CD player, and interior lights should have full operational power. This key will stay in the ignition until the end of the process, and must not be removed until that point.
2. Roll down the driver's side window until it is in the fully open position. This is to ensure you have a way to enter the car if the door locks cannot be electronically opened from the outside.
3. Close all of the car's doors and stand outside of the vehicle. Insert the other key into the door handle lock and rotate the key to the right to lock the doors. The vehicle's front and rear turn signal lights will flash once simultaneously and the horn will honk once to indicate that the locks have engaged.
4. Press the unlock button on the exterior key. The front and rear turn signal lights will flash twice to indicate the vehicle's locks have disengaged.
5. Lock the vehicle again using the lock button on the exterior key. Unlock the vehicle one final time using the unlock button on the exterior key. Remove the key from the external door lock and open the door. Remove the other key from the ignition.
6. Test the functions of the reprogrammed key by pressing the lock and unlock buttons. For safety and anti-theft purposes, once one key is programmed, the other will deactivate. Only one switchblade key can be active at a time.
