How Do I Add Gas in a 2000 BMW 528i?

1. Turn your vehicle off. You cannot refuel the BMW 528i unless you turn the engine off.
2. Open the gas container door. Press gently on the fuel door's edge located on the outside of the vehicle, which signals your electronics system that the fuel door should open. Alternatively, you can open the fuel door using a technique that does not require the electronics system. Open the trunk and pull the carpeting upward. Open the right-side panel fasteners and remove the side panel. Pull the knob that has the gas pump icon.
3. Twist the gas cap in a clockwise motion. You may need to apply slight pressure to loosen the cap. Place the cap in the filter door's holding bracket.
4. Push the gas pump nozzle completely into the BMW filler pipe. Pull the gas pump handle upward and hold it in place until either you reach your purchase limit or the pump automatically stops.
5. Twist the gas cap back into place in a counterclockwise motion until the cap is tightly secured after replacing the gas pump nozzle in the pump housing.
6. Push the gas container door closed until you hear a click, indicating the door is secure.
