How to Replace Brakes on a 1999 Mercedes

1. Turn the lug nuts on all of the wheels on the Mercedes E320 one-quarter turn counterclockwise with the tire wrench.
2. Put the front of the E320 on jack stands. Do this by jacking up the front of the vehicle using the front jack point. Then, place jack stands under the frame in the front of the vehicle. Next, jack up the rear of the vehicle using the rear jack point and place jack stands under the frame of the vehicle in the rear.
3. Finish removing all the lug nuts and then remove all the wheels.
4. Unbolt the caliper mounting bolts and secure the caliper to the coil springs above the brake assembly.
5. Remove the brake pads from the caliper.
6. Place the face of the brake pads over the caliper piston. Then, place the c-clamp over the back of the brake and caliper assembly and tighten the c-clamp to force the caliper piston back into the caliper.
7. Insert the new brake pads and reassemble the brake caliper assembly. Assembly is the reverse of dis-assembly.
8. Repeat steps 4, 5, 6, and 7 for each wheel. Then, put the wheels back on and tighten the lug nuts.
9. Lower the Mercedes to the ground and torque the wheel lug nuts to 100 foot-lbs.
10. Pump the brake pedal several times to restore pedal pressure to the brake system.
