How to Remove an Instrument Cluster From a 1992 Mercedes 190E

1. Turn off the engine of the 190E, but leave the keys in the ignition. Raise the steering wheel out as far as it will go, and then move it to its lowest position.
2. Insert the cluster removal tool into the bottom-right corner of the cluster and pop out the cluster. Repeat the process with the bottom-left corner of the cluster. If you are using a coat hanger instead of the cluster removal tool, fold the coat hanger in such a way that it is in an 'L'-shape, with the bottom part being approximately two inches long. Proceed to use the coat hanger exactly like the cluster removal tool, but be careful not to scratch the instrument cluster.
3. Disconnect the two wiring harnesses at the rear of the cluster and pull it out of the vehicle. Place the replacement instrument cluster into the vehicle and connect the two wiring harnesses to the new cluster if necessary.
4. Return the steering wheel to its original position.
