How to Remove the Delco Radio in a C5 Corvette

1. Disconnect the negative cable (--) from the battery with a pair of pliers. This protects you from shock when you are handling the wiring components. Let the Corvette sit with the battery disconnected for about 10 minutes. This ensures the airbag system is deactivated.
2. Open the ashtray lid. Push down the tab in the back of the ashtray and remove it from the console. Remove the Phillips-head screw behind the ashtray.
3. Open the console lid. Remove the Phillips-head screws from either side of the console.
4. Pry off the trim piece to the left of the ignition cylinder. Use a plastic or nylon pry tool to prevent scratching the surface. Remove the Phillips-head screw behind the piece.
5. Pry off the trim piece behind the gearshift knob (traction control and passenger-airbag panel). Unplug the two connections behind the trim piece.
6. Grasp the center console and radio-trim panel. Pull it rearward to unhook it from the interior. Behind the console, you'll find a connection for the cigarette lighter. Unplug this to separate the console.
7. Remove the two Phillips-head screws from either side of the radio. Pull the radio forward. Unplug the two connections behind it.
