How to Identify DOHC 2.8 Through a VIN

1. Go to the reference site at decodethis.com. Enter the VIN into the space provided. Click on 'DECODE.' Wait for the next screen.
2. Scroll down to the tabs that include 'General,' 'Equipment,' etc. Different manufactures arrange the information differently, but engine size and type is usually in 'General.'
3. Click on each of the tabs to see if the vehicle has a 2.8 DOHC engine. Click on the other tabs for more details about the car, including all the options that were installed when it was assembled.
