How to Dye Mercedes Leather Seats

1. Vacuum the car seats to remove any loose debris. Clean the seats with a solution of warm water and mild soap, using a sponge. Wipe down the seats thoroughly with a towel moistened with warm water. Allow the seats to dry.
2. Scrub the seats with lacquer thinner, using steel wool. This will extract much of the original color. Wear protective gloves and work in a well-ventilated area when working with lacquer thinner. Once finished, wipe down the seats thoroughly with a warm towel.
3. Create a solution of 1 gallon of water and 3 oz. of leather prepping agent. Use the solution to wet-sand the seats lightly, using 400- to 600-grit sandpaper. Allow the seats to dry.
4. Massage the seats with leather rejuvenating oil, using a soft cloth. Leave the seats to dry overnight.
5. Apply thin layers of leather dye to the seats, using a wide paintbrush for broad areas and a narrow paintbrush for harder-to-reach areas. Apply a second coat, if needed, to even out or darken the color. If you have leather seats with a coarser grain, dye can be applied by blotting rather than brushing. Allow the seats to dry for 48 hours.
