How to Check the Transmission Oil in a 2000 Audi A4

1. Park your automobile on flattened terrain. Switch the motor off and remove the key out of the vehicle's ignition. Lift the vehicle off the ground using the floor jack and then place the four jack stands under the vehicle. Read the instructions that came with the jack stands for specifics on installing the stands beneath the vehicle.
2. Go underneath the automobile and identify the transmission case positioned at the rear of the engine and near the middle of the automobile. Check for any obvious oil leaks while you're under the vehicle.
3. Identify the two oil plugs on the transmission case. Take off the larger-sized plug on the transmission and put your finger in the plug hole. Feel for the oil within the case. If you can feel the fluid, you have enough transmission fluid in the vehicle.
4. Draw your index finger from the plug hole and examine the shade of the fluid. Clear fluid means that the transmission oil is clean and does not require draining. Dark-colored fluid should be replaced.
