How do I Restart the Alpine Radio in My BMW After a Battery Change?

1. Use a small, flat head screwdriver to open the small, hinged flaps located on either side of the stereo head unit. You will see a small screw behind each of the flaps. Remove these with an Allen wrench.
2. Pull off the volume control knob. Turn the small screw behind the knob with an Allen wrench 90-degrees. This should cause the display to pop out from the stereo. Remove the two additional Allen screws located behind the display.
3. Carefully pull the stereo out of the dash once the screws have been removed. Locate the serial number on the top of the stereo. Write down the serial number.
4. Take the serial number to an authorized BMW dealer and give them the number and the year and make of your BMW. The dealer can then look up the code for the stereo. They may or may not charge you a small fee for looking up the code.
5. Reinstall the stereo in the reverse order that it was removed. Turn the key to the 'On ' position in the BMW once you have the code. When the stereo prompts you to enter the code, enter it through the buttons on the face of the stereo. The stereo should begin to function again.
