How do I Connect an iPod Classic to a 2005 BMW?

iPod Adapter
1. Use iTunes to create a playlist for your iPod. Name the playlist 'BMW1.' This name will allow you to press preset button '1' in your car and play the corresponding playlist on your iPod. Assign subsequent playlists the titles 'BMW2,' 'BMW3' and so on. To play music through the car's iPod adapter, you must make a playlist specifically for your BMW.
2. Turn on the BMW's radio and connect your iPod classic to the iPod adapter, which is located in the glove box. The iPod classic will read 'BMW OK to disconnect' as an indicator that the connection is successful.
3. Turn the radio dial to 'CD' to select the playlist number you would like to hear on your iPod. The car will read the iPod device as a CD and will allow you to use the BMW's radio and steering wheel controls to play music as it would for an audio disc. The music on your iPod will play via your car speakers.
FM Transmitter
4. Plug the FM Transmitter adapter into the cigarette lighter of your car and connect the other end to the bottom of the iPod classic. Ensure that the adapter is compatible for your iPod Classic by viewing the list of compatible devices on the package before purchasing.
5. Turn on the car's radio and press the 'Scan' button on the FM transmitter adapter to view available radio frequencies that will play the music from your iPod. Select one of the stations on the transmitter and turn your car's FM radio dial to that station.
6. Use your iPod to choose the playlist or songs you would like to hear and press play. The transmitter will use the radio waves to play the songs through the car speakers.
Auxiliary Input
7. Plug one end of an auxiliary cable into the auxiliary input port of the BMW and connect the other end to the iPod classic's stereo headphone jack. Using a wired connection like the auxiliary input will deliver music that is free from FM interference static.
8. Turn the radio dial to 'Aux' to play music using your iPod classic.
9. Select playlists or songs, using your iPod controls, to play through the car speakers.
