How to Replace a Headlight Bulb on a 2001 BMW 325i

1. Locate the headlight with the broken or damaged bulb. Unplug the wire-harness connector that clips into the back of the headlight housing bulb. Pinch the tab holding the connector in place, and pull backwards to remove it.
2. Turn the back of the bulb unit counter-clockwise, and unscrew the bulb until it is free from the headlight housing. Remove the bulb gently to avoid breaking the bulb inside of the the headlight housing.
3. Insert the replacement bulb into the position of the previous bulb. Avoid touching the surface of the bulb with your bare hands.
4. Screw the replacement bulb into the headlight housing using a clockwise motion until the bulb no longer moves. Avoid using excess force when tightening the bulb, as this can cause the unit to break.
5. Connect the wire-harness clip into the back of the headlight bulb. The clip should make a snapping noise when it is firmly in place.
