How to Modify a Mercedes 230E

1. Switch out the hubcaps to freshen the look of your 230E. The 230E, like many of the W123-bodied cars sold in Europe, was equipped with hubcaps that featured a painted center section that matched the cars paint. These wheels are inherently prone to scratches and are not the easiest to maintain. Switching the a set of Fuchs Bundt-style rims like the North American models can add a sporty feel to your 230E. The 14-inch Bundt rims are common and relatively affordable, while the 15-inch rims are more rare and thus more expensive, but they can offer improved handling and style.
2. Change your headlights from the rectangular headlights that came equipped on the European market 230E. North American models came equipped with a quad, round headlamp design that shares the same dimensions as the European models, but offers a style that many find to be more distinguished as it makes your Mercedes stand out from other automobiles.
3. Take out the OEM Becker radio with AM/FM receiver and cassette player and replace it with a more modern unit. You can add a CD player with an iPod jack to add functionality to your 230E. This change is not as daunting as it would be in later model Mercedes vehicles, as the standard unit is not integrated into the dashboard itself.
4. Add a dashboard cover onto your 230E's dash. These carpet covers can either cover up scratched that have occurred over time or can serve to protect your dash from being cracked in the future.
