How to Install an Outside Mirror Motor for a Mercedes 1998 E300

1. Push the right side of the driver's mirror lens into the mirror housing. If replacing the motor in the passenger mirror, push the left side of the mirror lens into the housing.
2. Pull outward on the mirror lens until the lens pops off the motor.
3. Locate the triangular plastic cover inside the door, directly opposite the mounting location for the mirror housing. Pull the cover off the inner door panel with your fingers.
4. Locate the wiring harness behind the cover and disconnect it.
5. Remove the four Torx screws that secure the mirror motor inside the mirror housing and then pull the mirror motor out of the housing.
6. Thread the wires of the new mirror motor through the housing and into the inside of the door.
7. Secure the mirror motor to the mirror housing using the Torx screws and the Torx screwdriver.
8. Connect the wire connector on the mirror motor to the wiring harness in the inner door.
9. Snap the triangular cover back into place using your hand.
10. Place the mirror lens into the mirror housing. The tight tolerance of the mirror housing forces the mirror to center on the mirror motor. Push on the mirror lens until it seats onto the mirror motor.
