How to Change the Oil on a 1991 Mercedes 190E

1. Place the jack under the front end of your Mercedes, making sure it's under the frame or front cross-member that is located in front of the oil pan. Jack up the vehicle enough so you have room to get to the oil pan and filter. Place the jack stands under the jack points behind the front wheels.
2. Slide the drain pan under the oil pan. Unplug the oil pan drain plug to drain the engine oil completely.
3. Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter. Wipe of any excess oil with the shop rag and screw in the new oil filter. Use the filter wrench to fully tighten it securely. Replace the oil pan plug.
4. Remove the jack stands and release the jack to bring your Mercedes down again. Open the hood and remove the cap to the port that says 'Engine Oil.' Place the funnel inside the port. This will prevent spillage. Pour in 6 qts. of new oil through the funnel.
5. Remove the funnel and replace the 'Engine Oil' cap. Pull out the dipstick and wipe the end off with the rag. Reinsert the dipstick and then pull it out a second time. Look at the end to see if the oil line reaches the 'Full' mark. If it does not, add more oil and recheck.
