2002 Audi A4 Troubleshooting

1. Start the engine. Read any warning lights that are shown on the dash panel. The Audi owner's manual will define what each light means. If none of the warning lights are on, there might be an issue with the electrical system.
2. Start the engine. If the car will not start and the headlights don't work, the battery might be at fault. If the battery is seems to be working but the car isn't starting, you might have a faulty starter.
3. Check that the vehicle was properly maintained by previous owners. Look at any available repair receipts or logs to see if the oil, fluids and filters have been changed regularly.
4. Check all fluids, including the oil, transmission fluid, and coolant. If any are low, replace as needed.
5. Listen for any unusual sounds that might be coming from the vehicle. Be sure the stereo is off, so you can hear properly. Write the sounds down, describing them in detail, so you can give your mechanic an accurate description.
