How to Remove Shadowline Trim on a BMW E46

Removing Lower Door Trim
1. Open the door and pull away the rubber that sits at the end of the door. There are two holes which the rubber can pop in and out of.
2. Insert the flathead screwdriver between the black shadowline trim and your door and gently pry up.
3. Pry up sections slowly as you work your way down the door from the back to the front.
4. Slide the trim back along the door about 1/4 inch once you've pried to the door's side mirror. A portion of the trim is secured below the side mirror, and pulling it out slightly will allow you to continue prying it off.
5. Pry off the final end of the trim piece and pull it off to remove it.
Removing Upper Door Trim
6. Grab the rubber door seals that sit at the top of the window, pull them down and away to reveal three Phillips head screws.
7. Use the screwdriver to unscrew the three Phillips head screws underneath the rubber trim to loosen the upper shadowline trim piece.
8. Pull off the upper door shadowline trim piece gently.
Removing Lower Rear Trim
9. Use the flathead screwdriver to pry off the plastic rivets that sit at the front end of the rear window trim on each side.
10. Crack open the rear window all the way.
11. Insert the flathead screwdriver between the rear window glass and the bottom of the black plastic cone and pry the cone away.
12. Push the plastic cone down and away to reveal a plastic ball and socket.
13. Pull the black plastic cone back towards the rear of the car to disconnect it from the window glass.
14. Turn on the heat gun or hair dryer and begin to heat up the lower door trim at the rear windows. Gently pry up the trim using the flathead screwdriver while you heat up the trim's adhesive to remove it. Work your way from the back of the car toward the front.
