How to Remove a 2.8 Audi Crank Bolt

1. Open the hood of the Audi 2.8.
2. Slide the 1/2-inch socket in the socket receiving end of the crank bolt removal tool. This end is the only one that will fit the socket.
3. Adjust the arm of the crank bolt removal tool containing the socket so that it is on the left-hand side of the crank pulley.
4. Slide the 1/2-socket over the crank bolt with the arm of the tool at a 90-degree angle to the crank bolt.
5. Hit the arm of the crank bolt removal tool with a heavy mallet so that the bolt turns in a counterclockwise direction. Do this until the crank bolt becomes loose enough to turn with your hand.
6. Remove the crank bolt removal tool and socket from the crank bolt.
7. Turn the crank bolt counterclockwise with your hand until it is free from the crankshaft and crank pulley.
