How to Use the Four

1. Turn on your G55, and engage the 'Drive' gear of the vehicle's automatic transmission, ensuring that you have a clear path ahead.
2. Engage the G55's proprietary four-wheel traction control system known as 4-ETS by simply beginning to drive forward. 4-ETS is turned on automatically when the vehicle is traveling between speeds of 1 mph and 37 mph. The system automatically applies braking power to wheels that are spinning, which allows power to be transferred to the wheels that are not spinning and have traction.
3. Engage the transfer case's low gear by pressing the 'Low' switch located behind the transmission on the G55's center console. The 'High' gear is the default setting for road use; however, during off-road operation, when four-wheel-drive is most often required, the 'Low' setting can provide added traction. It does so by preventing the transmission from upshifting automatically, allowing you to apply a specific amount of power to the four wheels, which can be helpful if you are driving off-road and dealing with step gradients.
4. Configure the various differential lock settings of the G55's four-wheel-drive system by manipulating the set of three buttons found on the center console near the transmission. The center button activates the transfer case differential lock, and the left-hand button engages the front differential lock. The left-hand button will activate the rear differential lock.
