How to Remove amp; Repair a Mercedes Window Switch


1. Remove the ashtray in the center console as if you were going to empty it; this will reveal two screws.
2. Loosen and remove the two screws that were revealed in the previous step by using your Philips head screwdriver.
3. Remove the ashtray holder assembly, which will have been unsecured with the removal of the two screws from Step 2.
4. Disconnect the small wiring harness that is attached to the ashtray holder assembly, then set the assembly aside.
5. Remove the two screws that secure the center console to your Mercedes. These screws sit under the ashtray holder assembly that you removed.
6. Slide the center console assembly out, revealing the window switches.
7. Pry the broken window switch out using your fingers and replace it with the new one. You may also repair any frayed wiring at this time, as you will be able to access the electronics that are connected to the switch assembly.
