How to Change the Brakes on a Mercedes C 230


1. Loosen the tire nuts and then jack up the Mercedes C230 to elevate the required side of the vehicle using the recommended jack.
2. Rotate the tire nuts completely till they come off and take off the wheel.
3. Remove the caliper mounting bolts. There will be two, one at the bottom and the other at the top of the caliper.
4. Remove the caliper mounting bolts, one from the bottom and the other from the top of the caliper.
5. Tap on the brake pads to ensure they come loose, since they tend to get tightly fastened together onto the rotor. Once they get loose, remove the brake pads.
6. Fasten the caliper piston back into the caliper by pushing it back and once the face of any of the pads is over the caliper piston apply pressure with a C-clamp.
7. Put the new brake pads into the caliper the same way you took out the old ones and then reassemble the parts.
8. Hoist the wheels back onto the vehicle, tighten the nuts with a wrench and lower the vehicle to the ground.
