How do I Remove the Gas Tank From a C230 Mercedes Benz 1997?

1. Open up the hood of your vehicle. Locate the bolt clamp on each battery terminal. Use a wrench to loosen the bolt on the terminals. Lift both the positive and negative cable off the battery terminals.
2. Place a drain pan underneath the gas tank. Remove the drain plug at the bottom of the tank. Drain the gas from the tank in to the pan. Once the tank has been emptied reattach the drain plug.
3. Place a car jack underneath the vehicle so that it is directly underneath the gas tank. Raise the car jack so that it is supporting the weight of the gas tank.
4. Use a wrench to remove the bolts which fix the two straps to the underside of the gas tank. This will mean that the car jack is now supporting the weight of the gas tank.
5. Remove the fuel inlet hose which attaches the gas tank to the engine. This will disconnect the gas tank completely from the vehicle and allow you to repair or replace it as you wish.
