How to Wax a Jet Black BMW

1. Clean the car with car wash soap. Use a fresh sponge to scrub the car without causing abrasions. Use a toothbrush to remove sediment from the crevices in the front grill, beneath door handles and various other nooks.
2. Dry the car using a chamois cloth and use a clay bar to strip the metallic contaminants from the paint. According to Autopia Car Care, clay bars are most commonly used to remove harsh brake dust that attaches itself to the rear bumpers and nearby surfaces. Further, clay bars make it easy to remove road film, bug stains and stubborn water spots.
3. Use a professional polishing product on the car to remove minor surface defects. Application methods will vary according to the manufacturer, so follow them carefully.
4. Apply the carnuba wax using a new, damp sponge. Use only enough to cover the surface. Do not let the wax spread onto the rubber door seals or any black plastic as it will leave a white stain on those surfaces. Let the wax sit on the surface for a few minutes before continuing.
5. Buff the wax using slow circular motions and a clean, dry cloth.
