How to Replace Brake Pads on a 2003 C240

1. Place the jack under the car next to the wheel you wish to work on first. Fully seat the jack arm inside the jack take-up bracket, which is located next to the wheel well and faces the center of the vehicle. Set the parking brake, then lift the vehicle until the wheel is completely off the ground.
2. Position a jack stand next to the jack and carefully lower the Mercedes until its full weight is supported by the stand. Remove the jack.
3. Remove the lug nuts with a lug wrench and pull the wheel off the vehicle. Disconnect the brake caliper by removing the bolts holding it in place. Reach inside the caliper and pry out the old brake pads. Press the piston back into the caliper to make room for the new pads.
4. Apply a small amount of brake grease to the back of the new pads, paying close attention not to get any grease on the contact area of the pads. Insert them into the calipers, ensuring they are oriented in the same position as the previous ones.
5. Slide the caliper back over the rotor and replace the bolts. Put the wheel back on, tighten the lug nuts, and lower the vehicle back to the ground. Repeat this process on any other wheels that require service.
