How to Open the Hood on a 1988 Mercedes 500 SEL

1. Open the door and enter the Mercedes 500 SEL. Locate the hood release lever on the left-hand side of the driver's side foot well.
2. Pull the hood lever release to partially release the hood latch mechanism. The hood should pop open so that it is slightly ajar.
3. Walk to the front of the 500 SEL and locate the gray pull tab sticking out of the grille. Pull the tab out while lifting the hood at the same time. The latch will fully release the hood latching mechanism, allowing the owner to fully open the hood.
