How to Install a BMW Brake Light

1. Open the trunk lid using the trunk lever on the driver's-side kick panel or the trunk key.
2. Peel back the carpet from the front edge of the trunk on the side of the BMW that has the burned-out taillight.
3. Locate the bulb socket for the brake light; it's the middle socket. Turn the socket counterclockwise and pull it away from the taillight housing.
4. Pull the brake-light bulb out of its socket and push the new bulb into the socket.
5. Place the socket into the taillight housing and turn it clockwise to lock it in place.
6. Push the trunk carpet back into place.
