How to Repair a BMW R850 Headlight

1. Remove the five screws holding the right faring pocket in place on the front of the motorcycle, located just in front of the seat. Pull the faring away and set it to the side.
2. Turn the handlebars to the left, exposing the right side of the motorcycle. Lock the wheel in place with a weight if necessary to hold it in place.
3. Reach inside the middle of the motorcycle to the wires located under the handlebars connecting the lightbulb to the motorcycle. Disconnect the clips holding the wires together with your fingers.
4. Remove the rubber cover from the lightbulb. Remove the old lightbulb from the connector.
5. Plug the new bulb into the headlight hole. Click it in place. Plug the connector into the prongs located on the back of the bulb. Replace the rubber cover over the bulb assembly.
6. Reconnect the wires and return the faring pocket to the top of the motorcycle. If necessary, use pliers to reconnect the wires.
7. Clean the front of the headlight to remove any scratches with automotive polish and a soft rag. Buff the front of the headlight until it is clear and there are no visible scratches.
