How to Remove a Crank Pulley Bolt

1. Open the vehicle hood. Remove any obstructions blocking your way to the crank pulley bolt.
2. Match a socket from a 1/2 inch drive socket set to the head of the crank pulley bolt. Push the drive end of the socket onto the socket receiver of a crank bolt removal tool.
3. Turn the crank bolt removal tool so the arm with the socket attached sits to the left side of the crank pulley. Slide the end of the socket onto the crank pulley bolt. Hold the handle of the tool at a 90 degree angle to the crank pulley bolt.
4. Hit the handle end of the tool repeatedly with a heavy mallet until the crank pulley bolt spins free of the pulley face.
5. Remove the crank bolt removal tool from the crank bolt. Turn the bolt by hand to remove it from the end of the crank shaft.
