How to Remove Headlamp Bulbs on the 2002 Mercedes S430
1. Turn the Mercedes S430's engine off and open its hood. Locate the engine compartment.
2. Look on the back cover of the headlamp case on the side that houses the bulb you want to remove. There are two small black covers on the back of the case. The cover closest to the middle of the grille holds the low-beam bulbs. The cover on the outside holds the high-beam bulbs.
3. Grasp the two clips on the appropriate cover and squeeze them together. This releases the cover. Pull the cover off to access the bulbs. Behind the low-beam cover, you'll find two bulbs. The top bulb is the headlamp bulb. Behind the high-beam cover, you'll find three bubs. The bulb closest to the center of the grille is the high-beam bulb.
4. Unplug the plastic connector on the back of the bulb that you want to remove. Pivot the bulb's wire out of its mount to free the bulb, and then grasp the back of the bulb and pull it straight out.
