How to Pair a BlackBerry Bold 9700 to a Mercedes Bluetooth Car Phone
1. Select the 'Phone' option or press the 'TEL' button on the head unit interface in the Mercedes Benz. Along the lower left corner of the interface select the 'Phone' option. Once the next screen becomes available, select ' Phone List,' which will allow you to access the Bluetooth options. Select 'External Authorization' to activate the Bluetooth connectivity signal, which will notify you when it is ready to be connected.
2. On your BlackBerry 9700 select the 'Set up Bluetooth' icon on the home screen. Select the 'Add device and search for devices' option to allow the phone to find the Mercedes Bluetooth signal. When prompted, select 'MB Bluetooth device,' which is the vehicle's Bluetooth signal. If the device is not locating the 'MB Bluetooth device,' ensure that the Mercedes interface screen is still showing that it is ready for external authorization.
3. On the Mercedes interface select 'Yes' for your phone to be authorized. The phone will appear as 'My Phone' or as another name depending on how it is saved. Once the devices are connected, enter a password to secure the connection. The password can be up to 16 digits long and needs to be the same on both devices. The system will notify you that both pass codes were entered correctly.
4. On the BlackBerry 9700 the screen will notify you when pairing or connection is complete. Select 'Yes' to complete the connection and, if this connection will be recurring, then verify that the 'Request is always granted' check box is selected. The connection succeeded message will show on your blackberry to confirm connection. Verify the connection on your Mercedes interface to ensure it is saved correctly.
