New Audi TT Grill Conversion Instructions
1. Place your Audi TT in Park and engage the parking brake before turning it off. Never work on a car without engaging the parking brake due to the danger of gear slippage, even in a brand new car. Remove your front license plate if you have one and place it to the side.
2. Use a flat head screwdriver to disengage the friction clips in the center grill. You have to slide the screwdriver through the grill itself and wedge the clip up slightly while simultaneously pulling the grill back towards you. Disengage the 14 other friction clips that secure the center grill to the body work.. Pull the grill down and then out when all the clips are disengaged. Disengage the friction clips on the two side grills. Same process of sliding the flat head screwdriver through the grill and into the clip. The side grills have seven clips in total and needs to be pulled down and out to be removed.
3. Place new grills over the holes and mark with markers where the pegs touch the inner flanges. Take the grills away and then drill with a 1/8 inch drill bit into each flange until you are all the way through. Take a rat tail file and smooth out the rough edges of the freshly drilled holes.
4. Place the center grill into place so that the pegs slide through the holes. It is okay to use a little force to get the pegs into the holes. Reach under the lip of the forward body and slide zip ties trhough the holes in the pegs. Then cinch the zip ties tight so that they hold the grill in place. Repeat this process with the two side grills.
5. Turn the car on but keep it in park. Examine the new grills to see if they are moving or shaking. If they are then turn the car off and retighten the zip ties on that grill.
