How to Wire Headlights in an Audi RS2

1. Gather the wires on the back of the new headlight into one pair of positive wires and one pair of neutral wires. Different headlights may have different colored insulation to indicate the positive and neutral wires. In general, for aftermarket headlight assemblies, the positive wires are red, and the neutral wires are black.
2. Strip 1 inch of insulation off of the end of each wire.
3. Braid the 1-inch leads of the positive wires together. Braid the 1-inch leads of the neutral wires together.
4. Insert the braided leads of the positive wires through one female crimp connector. Clamp the connector over the leads with a pair of pliers. Wrap the connection in electrical tape to prevent moisture from entering the circuit. Repeat this process for the pair of neutral wires.
5. Strip 1 inch of insulation off of the end of the spare positive wire and 1 inch of insulation off of the spare neutral wire that comes with the new headlight assemblies.
6. Insert the bare lead of the spare positive wire through a male crimp connector. Clamp the connection down with the pliers. Apply electrical tape to the connection. Repeat this process for the spare neutral wire.
7. Connect the negative lead of a voltmeter to the negative terminal of the vehicle's battery. Connect the positive lead of the voltmeter to the positive wire on the vehicle's headlight wiring harness. The positive wire is the one with power coming through it. In general, this wire is covered in red insulation.
8. Connect the spare positive wire to the positive wire from the headlight wiring harness with a quick connector. Clamp the connection down with the pliers. Repeat this step for the spare neutral wire and the neutral wire from the headlight wiring harness.
9. Insert the male crimp connector from the spare positive wire through the female crimp connector from the pair of positive wires coming from the headlight assembly. Wrap the connection in electrical tape. Repeat this process for the male crimp connector on the spare neutral wire and the female crimp connector on the pair of neutral wires.
10. Repeat these steps for the other headlight assembly.
