How to Repair the Oil Filter Housing Gasket on a Mercedes

1. Pry the rubber gasket off the top of the oil filter using a flat-head screwdriver. Lift the edges gently so another tear doesn't result.
2. Place a layer of fresh sealant along the gasket ridge on the top of the oil filter.
3. Press the gasket down onto the sealant ensuring that the o-ring is an intact circle without any gaps. If there are any tears in the rubber make sure they are held together by the sealant.
4. Place a thin layer of sealant across the top of the gasket.
5. Allow the sealant to cure for at least 30 minutes before reattaching the oil filter.
