How to Repair a BMW Hood Emblem

1. Clean thoroughly around the emblem so that the paint does not get scratched when it is removed. Use a soft bristle brush to loosen and remove any loose dirt trapped around the edge of the emblem.
2. Wrap masking tap around the end of a flat head screwdriver so that the paint is protected when you use the screwdriver to pry off the emblem. Carefully slide the screwdriver between the emblem and hood and pry the emblem up. Work around the edge, prying up a little at a time until the emblem pops off the hood. You can also use a credit card or similar object to remove the emblem.
3. Open the hood. Locate the rubber grommets that the studs on the back of the emblem were fastened to. The studs on the emblem go through small holes in the hood and are then held in place with these rubber grommets. The new emblem will come with new grommets. Remove the old grommets and discard them.
4. Clean the area on the outside of the hood where the emblem was installed. Install the new rubber grommets onto the studs on the back of the new emblem by sliding them on. Line the studs and the rubber grommets up with the holes in the hood and gently press the emblem into place.
