How to Remove the Wiper Arms From a 1997 BMW

1. Pull the plastic covering off of the base of the wiper arm with your fingers.
2. Unbolt the bolt under the wiper arm cover using a socket wrench.
3. Grab onto the gold plated pressure bolt that is now visible. BMW uses a pressure bolt to hold the wiper arms in place. You'll need a pair of sturdy vise grip pliers that can really grab onto this bolt.
4. Hit the handle of the vise grip pliers to try to rotate the bolt in a counterclockwise fashion. This bolt should break loose after a few good hits. Then, remove the bolt and pull the wiper arm off of the wiper linkage assembly.
