How to Program an E430 Garage Opener

Standard Programming
1. Remove any objects that may be blocking your garage door's path. The owner's manual for the E430 warns that the garage door may open and close several times during the programming process.
2. Locate your current garage door opener remote.
3. Locate the programmable buttons in your E430. These buttons are located on the bottom of the rear view mirror on the driver's side of the vehicle. There will be three of them.
4. Make sure your garage door opener is compatible with your E430 universal remote. Not all garage door openers will work. If you are unsure whether yours will work, contact Mercedes-Benz Client Assistance Center. That number is 1-800-FOR-MERCEDES.
5. Place your vehicle's key into the ignition. Turn the key to the first or second position (this will turn the car's electronic systems on only).
6. Hold your current remote 2 to 5 inches away from your E430's rear view mirror.
7. Press the buttons on your hand-held remote while pressing the desired button on your rear view mirror. A light on the rear view mirror will flash, slowly at first, and then rapidly. Once the light begins flashing rapidly, you can release both buttons.
8. Test the button on your rear view mirror to make sure it works. If it doesn't, try repeating the above steps, or call Mercedes-Benz customer support.
Rolling Code Programming
9. See if your garage door motor uses rolling codes (where the electronic code changes automatically on a periodic basis) by consulting the unit's owner's manual.
10. Find the 'training' button on your garage door opener's motor (this is the large box usually located at the top of your garage). The exact location of this button may vary based on your make and model of garage door opener; you may need to consult the unit's owner's manual.
11. Press the 'training' button located in Step 2. Once the button has been depressed, you'll have 30 seconds to complete the next step.
12. Press the button on your E430's rear view mirror once and release, then press and release the button a second time. Depending on the make and model of your garage door opener, you may have to press and release the button a third time to finish the training process.
13. Test the button on your rear view mirror to make sure the training process was successful. If not, repeat the above steps or contact Mercedes-Benz customer service for help.
