How to Identify an Audi Flywheel

1. Open the hood of your Audi and prop it up using the hood support rod.
2. Locate the engine. The engine is on the right side and has an embossed, silver-plated Audi symbol.
3. Locate the transmission. The transmission is on the left and is a large cylinder-like part.
4. Look in between the engine and the transmission, just below the distributor cap at the point where the engine and transmission touch. Hang a piece of rope where the engine and the transmission touch and allow the rope to hang down toward the ground.
5. Slide under the car. Remove the access cover and look for the flywheel gears. These gears have metal teeth and are wedged between the engine and the transmission. Although you can't see the flywheel from under the hood, you can remove the flywheel by pulling the engine and the transmission and then unbolting the flywheel.
