How Do I Replace a Motor Mount on a 2000 Audi A4?

1. Open the hood of your Audi A4 and disconnect the negative terminal of your battery by loosening the terminal nut with a wrench and pulling the cable off the battery post.
2. Remove the air box by unfastening the retaining nut on top. The air box is black plastic and has a plastic tube that extends from one side and connects to the top of the engine.
3. Remove the heat shield, located under the turbo, by unfastening the retaining nut.
4. Jack up the car and place jack stands under the frame of the car near the wheels for added support and safety.
5. Move below the engine of your vehicle and remove the four bolts holding the sway bar in place. The sway bar is metal and connects the front two wheels.
6. Place a jack under your engine to support it once you've disconnected the mount.
7. Remove the nut on the lower side of the engine mount.
8. Remove the mount bracket from the frame by removing the three bolts securing it.
9. Remove the mount. You'll notice some wires wrapped around the mount; simply move them out of the way.
10. Remove the washer from the old mount and place it onto the new mount.
11. Position the new mount in place of the old one that you just removed.
12. Secure the new mount with the three bolts that you removed earlier. Repeat the above steps in reverse order to reassemble your Audi A4.
