Instructions for Changing the Tire on a 2002 C240 Mercedes

1. Park your car on a level nonskid surface.
2. Turn off the engine.
3. Open the trunk and lift the trunk floor to access the vehicle tool kit and spare tire.
4. Take out the vehicle tool kit found on top of the spare tire.
5. Twist the luggage bowl securing the spare tire counterclockwise and remove.
6. Pull out the spare tire.
7. Unscrew the wheel bolts with the wheel wrench from the vehicle tool kit. Just loosen the bolts, do not remove them.
8. Place the jack head under the C240 frame's take-up brackets. Position the jack head so that once the jack is raised, the brackets will sit flush against the jack head. The brackets are located directly behind the front wheel wells and directly in front of the back wheel wells. Your owner's manual will have a diagram of the take-up brackets if you have trouble locating them.
9. Turn the handle on the jack to raise the car. Be sure there is enough space to easily slide the tires on and off the car.
10. Remove the wheel bolts.
11. Slide the flat tire off the car.
12. Position the spare tire with the holes over the wheel and install the tire.
13. Screw the wheel bolts on by hand.
14. Lower the car to the ground.
15. Tighten the bolts with the wheel wrench.
16. Store the flat tire in the trunk and replace the jack and the vehicle tool kit.
