How to Replace the Battery on a Smart Key

1. Slide the release mechanism located on the bottom of the Smart Key to the side. While holding the release mechanism to the side, lift up on the bottom portion to pull this part away from the Smart Key. This part consists of a long straight item and a portion of the Smart Key cover. Release the locking mechanism.
2. Slide the straight portion of the removed item into the opening that has now been created by removing that section of the Smart Key. Press this item along the side of the unit to attempt to crack open or separate the front from the back of the smart key. Once the unit has been cracked open, lift the top away from the bottom of the unit.
3. Remove the green circuit board from the bottom portion of the Smart Key. Flip the circuit board upside down to locate the cell battery. Simply lift up on the cell battery for removal.
4. Place a new cell battery into the battery housing unit. Place the circuit board, with the battery side facing downward back into the bottom portion of the Smart Key.
5. Align the top half of the Smart Key over the bottom portion. Push the two pieces together until you hear them snap closed.
6. Slide the portion of the Smart Key that was removed from the bottom back into place. You may hear a snap when the locking mechanism locks the piece back into place.
