How to Install a Timer on an Eclipse Turbo

1. Disconnect negative battery terminal before you begin. This is done by removing the cable from the black terminal of the Eclipse's battery. Inside the car, remove the three screws from the underside of the steering column. These hold the column cover in place. Once removed, the cover will lift off, exposing the Eclipse's ignition harness.
2. Separate the Eclipse's ignition harness. It is a blue plug with a male and female end. The harness will easily unplug by hand. Insert the supplied turbo timer harness into the Eclipse's stock ignition harness. The turbo timer harness will have a matching male and female connector, so it will plug directly into the stock harness.
3. Mount your turbo timer unit in the desired location. A popular choice is atop the steering column. Fix it in place with the supplied double-sided tape, and plug it into the turbo timer wiring harness. Tuck excess harness wire into the dashboard and secure it with zip ties.
4. Run the ground wire from the turbo timer wiring harness to a grounding source. An easy choice on the Eclipse is any of the nearby frame screws drilled into the chassis. Run the ground wire over to one of these, and wind the exposed wire's end around the neck of screw. Secure excess wire with zip ties.
5. Remove the Eclipse's center console cover. This is done by first pulling up on the cup area until it unsnaps, and then doing the same for the rest of the console assembly. Once unsnapped, the plastic covering will lift easily out of place, exposing the parking break assembly.
6. Route the parking brake wire from the turbo timer assembly through the dashboard to the center console area. Splice this wire into the parking brake switch by stripping approximately .2 inches of the parking brake switch's insulation, and then wrapping the turbo timer's parking brake wire end around the exposed switch wire. Crimp the connection with wire crimps supplied in the turbo timer kit.
7. Tuck all remaining excess wiring into the dashboard and console area and secure it with zip ties. Replace center console and steering column covers by reversing the operation of removal. Replace the negative battery terminal. Start your Eclipse and ensure that the turbo timer powers on and operates fully.
