How do I Remove the Starter on a Mercedes Benz 300D?

1. Open the hood of your car and locate the battery. Loosen the clamp nut the holds the negative battery cable to the negative battery terminal using a wrench.
2. Raise the front of your 300D off the ground with a jack then position a set of jack stands under the frame rails to support the car. Lower the jack allowing the car to settle onto the jack stands, and then remove the jack.
3. Locate the starter on the passenger's side of the engine from under the car. Using a wrench, remove the retaining nuts that secure the electrical connections to the starter solenoid. Slide the connections off the terminals and lay them aside.
4. Remove the starter motor retaining bolts from the front of the starter with a socket and ratchet. Slide the starter back until the nose clears the bell housing then lower it out of the engine compartment. Slide the starter out from under the car.
