How to Check Engine Codes for a 1995 Mercedes

1. Open the fuse panel cover on your 1995 Mercedes and locate the on board diagnostic port to the left of the fuse panel. There is only one port large enough to accommodate the plug from the OBD scan tool. Plug the scan tool into this port.
2. Turn the ignition key to the "run" position and wait for the scan tool to retrieve the codes from your Mercedes' computer. Write these down.
3. Wait until the check-engine light goes out. Once it does, the check-engine codes have cleared.

How to Troubleshoot the 1993 Audi 90

1. Inspect the fuel injectors of your Audi if you see fuel leaking underneath the engine. The internal seals of the injectors may have malfunctioned, allowing gasoline to leak into the engine compartment. If the fuel comes into contact with an ignition source, a fire could start in the engine. Replace each of the fuel injectors to resolve this issue.
2. Check the airbag sensor on your Audi if the airbag icon lights up on your dashboard. The airbag sensor may have malfunctioned. If the sensor is not working correctly, the airbag restraint system can accidentally deploy and cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash. Replace the sensor to avoid this result.
3. Look at the universal CV boot on the Audi 90 if you hear a ticking noise while you are either backing up or turning the front wheels of the sedan. This boot could be cracked, damaged or leaking brake fluid. Look also at the CV joint to see if it is damaged or cracked. You should also inspect the CV half-shaft and ensure that the joint of the shaft is not worn or damaged.
4. Examine the fuel line assembly if you can smell gas fumes coming from the engine compartment while the engine is running. There may be a leak in the fuel lines. Make sure that the fuel filter does not have a leak in it and that the fuel pump has been installed correctly. Some or all of the fuel injectors may also be faulty, or the carburetor could be worn, damaged or faulty.

How to Remove the Rear Seat Headrest from a 1999 Mercedes Benz E Class

1. Lift up on the lower rear-seat cushion and depress the clips located on each side of the bottom front of the cushion. Remove the three bolts -- one on each side and one in the bottom-middle of the backrest -- using a socket. Move the backrest forward to gain a better view of the headrest posts at the point they enter the seat.
2. Pry the square plastic covers out of the seat top surrounding the headrest posts. Be careful not to get over-zealous and break them -- they are close to an inch deep so you must use the screwdriver to pry around the corners little by little to get them out. Use a small piece of masking tape to hold them up near the headrest to keep them out of the way.
3. Grab one of the headrest posts with one hand while depressing the small tabs at the base of the headrest posts. Each post has these tabs, and they will simply lock again if tension is released on one post to release the other. This is where the process becomes a challenge, unless you know the trick: Keep a good grip on one post and release the tabs; once released, you can feel the post rise above the tab. Keep wrist tension on this post while depressing the tabs on the opposite post. The headrest will pull straight out.
4. Install the same headrest or new ones by transferring the plastic caps to the new ones and aligning the posts with the holes and firmly pushing both posts down evenly until they lock. Push the plastic caps into the seat.
5. Install the rear seat with the three bolts. Install the rear lower-seat cushion by pushing the rear of the cushion in first below the backrest and then pushing the front down until it snaps into the front hooks. Cycle the headrests all the way up and down to reset them.

How to Change the Oil on an E36 BMW 3 Series

1. Drive the car until it reaches normal running temperature. This will make the oil flow out better. Park the car on a flat surface. Put on safety gloves and open the hood of the car.
2. Find a place to apply the force of the jack in order to lift the car.
Some BMW models have a jack pad behind one of the front tires. If not, find a solid area to put the jack. Jack the car up high enough to be able to slide the jack stands underneath. Put the jack stand on a solid part of the chassis and release the jack slowly so the car will rest on the jack stand.
3. Locate the oil plug under the car on the bottom side of the engine. Put the oil pan underneath the oil plug and unscrew the plug and washer with a 17 mm socket wrench. Let the oil drain out for 20 minutes to make sure all of it drains.
4. Clean the oil plug and put the new washer on it. The new washer will come in the box with the new oil filter. Replace the plug by hand, but do not overtighten. Take the oil pan out from under the car and remove the jack stands.
5. Detach the cover of the oil filter housing. The filter will be located under the hood, unlike other types of cars that have them underneath the car. Use a 13 mm socket wrench to remove the oil filter housing cover.
6. Remove the filter and replace it with the new filter. Apply clean oil to the o-ring before replacing that, as well. This will help the filter attach better.
7. Use the funnel to put new oil through the filler cap located at the top of the engine. Check the owners manual to determine how much oil should be used. Replace the oil cap and start the car. Check the underside of the car in a few minutes to make sure no oil leaks out. Dispose of the used oil at an auto parts store or an auto garage.
