How to Identify Which 2.8 My Audi Has

1. Locate the engine block stamping. According to the Snap On PDF technical manual on the w124 Performance site, the engine block stamping is usually on the passenger side of the block, near the timing chain tensioner. It is visible when looking down between the throttle valve control and the valve cover. Later-model 2.8-liter engines have an identification sticker with the code, normally on the drivebelt cover at the front of the engine.
2. Locate the engine identifier on the tag. Audi uses a two-to-three letter code to identify their engines. The letters are at the beginning of the identification number, followed by a sequential engine production number. An example of an engine code is 'AFC.'
3. Identify which Audi 2.8-liter engine you have. By referencing the code to the listing found on Auto Shopping Center, you can positively identify the particular 2.8-liter you have installed in your vehicle. The example 'AFC,' Identifies a 2.8-liter V-6 with two valves per cylinder from a 1994 to 1994 Audi 80.

1998 BMW 740iL Radiator Installation

1. Turn your BMW 740iL off and allow the engine and radiator to cool down. Place the bucket under the drain plug. Open the plug and allow the coolant to flow into the bucket.
2. Remove the upper radiator hose by disconnecting the metal rings and pulling the hose from the connectors. Take care that the bucket is under the area, because coolant may spill out. Remove the lower radiator hose in the same manner, also allowing for additional coolant that may spill out. Disconnect and remove the upper radiator support bar. Disconnect and detach the radiator fan assembly, as well as the transmission oil cooler and transmission fluid cooler lines. Look for mounting screws at the top and bottom of the radiator and remove them.
3. Lift the BMW's radiator out of the vehicle, taking caution with coolant that may still be in the radiator and that may spill out. Place it on the ground. Check the hoses for any weak spots, tearing, ripping or other signs of wear that may indicate that the hoses need replacing. Check the condition of the hose clamps as well. If the hoses and clamps are in poor condition, you should replace them along with the radiator to avoid problems.
4. Check the condition of the radiator fan. Clean it with high-pressure air or water to remove any debris.
5. Position the new radiator in the BMW 740iL. Reverse the removal process by connecting the radiator fan, the upper and lower hoses and the transmission oil cooler. Reattach all the bolts and tighten.
6. Check all connections and hoses and pour the proper coolant into the radiator until it is full. Turn on the BMW and warm the vehicle so that the radiator can begin to circulate the fluid. Continue to add coolant until the radiator is full and remains at a consistent level.

How to Replace the Oxygen Sensor in an E320

1. Park the vehicle, turn off the engine and open the hood. Detach the two small air pipes that run from the air box and the blowoff valves. Also remove the larger air pipe that's connected to the air box and the rear turbo. This will give you room to access the oxygen sensor, which is located on the precatalytic converter.
2. Spray some WD-40 on the old oxygen sensor to loosen it. Unscrew the sensor with the wrench to remove it from its port. Unhook the wires from the car's electrical wiring harness.
3. Connect the wires of the new oxygen sensor to the wiring harness. Apply a small amount of anti-seize paste to the threads of the new sensor. This will make removal easier for the next time. Be careful not to get any of the paste on the sensor itself or it could cause it to fail prematurely or not function properly.
4. Screw in the new oxygen sensor into the port and securely tighten it with the wrench. Connect the air pipes back onto the proper valves again.

5. Remove the top carefully.

How to Soup Up Your Car

1. Install a new air filter in your car. A better air filter improves power because it provides more air for combustion. A dirty air filter decreases the fuel efficiency, so it's important to change air filters regularly, anyway. A high flow-filter can increased power. (Reference 1)
2. Put a new exhaust system on your car. A high performance exhaust system can provide three benefits. It can improve your car's appearance, it can improve your car's sound signature, and it can boost horsepower by as much as 15 percent. (Reference 2)
3. Install performance cylinder heads. If your stock cylinder heads only have one intake and one exhaust valve, you do not get maximum power from the engine. Invest in performance heads that have a total of four valves per cylinder to boost your horsepower. (Reference 3)
4. Install a chip in your car that will fine tune the electrical systems to maximize power. A new chip can be pre-programmed, or a technician can program it to custom tune the engine's settings. You might need professional help with this one, but since computers control most engine and combustion functions in all new cars, adjusting the settings for maximum power is important. (Reference 4)
5. Make cosmetic and physical changes to your car. A souped up engine isn't nearly as much fun if your car doesn't look the part. Custom paint and a custom interior complete the conversion. There are some physical changes you can make that will improve performance, like adding a spoiler and reducing weight.
